Brand-new flagship space of Asia Art Center will be officially opened in Taipei in late 2020

Asia Art Center - Brand-new Taipei Flagship Space | Grand Opening December 2020

Asia Art International Group Corporation is pleased to make two major announcements: 1. The brand new flagship gallery space for Asia Art Center occupying 1,800 square meters will open in late 2020 in Taipei; 2. "AContemporary", the gallery brand for contemporary art established in 2015, will be re-launched as a non-profit institution entitled "A+ Foundation". This new foundation will focus on academic research, art publishing, art collection, cooperation with related institutions and art collection. In addition, the exhibition space belonged to "A+ Contemporary" will become Asia Art Center's third branch city gallery, after the existing two in Taipei and Beijing respectively. Artists originally represented by "AContemporary" will henceforth be included on the Asia Art Center artist roster.

Asia Art Center was founded in 1982, and has been operating in Taipei for 38 years and throughout that time it has maintained unparalleled passion and professionalism, promoting high quality art programs, art education, art research and publications. Asia Art Center currently runs three gallery spaces respectively in Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei. Asia Art Center adheres to the business philosophy of "vision, integrity, and professionalism". It adopts the principle of parallelism between modern and contemporary manners, as well as academia and commercial market. Through high-quality exhibitions which represent talented and promising artists and superior artistic projects, Asia Art Center continues to promote the development of modern and contemporary art in China and even Asia.

The brand new flagship gallery space for Asia Art Center occupying 1,800 square meters will soon be completed in the Dazhi area of Taipei and is set to showcase a series of large-scale international exhibitions in late 2020. The volume, design, function and specifications of the exhibition space comparable to the international top brand galleries will bring infinite imagination to Asia Art Center, leading the trend of diversified art and museum-level exhibitions.

The Dazhi area is an upscale area in Taipei, with relatively rare low-density planning. Indeed, the area is an urban green belt with wide street, parks and rivers; to the south is the Keelung River; to the North is Yangmingshan. In addition, the National Palace Museum and Songshan Airport can be reached within ten minutes by car. There are many arts, technology and media industries in Dazhi and the neighboring Neihu District. We are confident that the opening of the Asia Art Center headquarter will add brand artistic vitality to this area.

The brand-new flagship space in headquarter of Asia Art Center is currently being constructed by the Taiwanese renowned interior design company, "Dynasty Design Corporation". The brand new flagship gallery space for Asia Art Center occupying 1,800 square meters which is more than double size of all two added space of Asia Art Center in Taipei. It will be divided into three exhibition spaces with dinstinct functions, as well as an office seating thirty staff members, a library, a multimedia conference room, a VIP room and an artwork warehouse. The high-ceiling gallery display area comes with a flexible space that is suitable for a wide range of exhibition forms. In this regard, all of the exhibition space will be open-plan multiple hanging points and professional lighting yet without pillars, which make it possible for supporting a widerange of multimedia modern and contemporary art displays, providing artists with a high-quality platform on which to show their works.

In addition, the 3,000 square meters gallery outdoor space not only allows the indoor and outdoor spaces to form a rich and varied visual extension, but the large-scale sculptures and installations displayed outside also provide the possibility for art to intervene in urban public spaces.

At this stage, the overall structure and appearance of the architecture of the new flagship space of Asia Art Center has entered the completion stage. It is expected that a series of large-scale international exhibition projects will be launched from the end of 2020 to the beginning of 2021.

"We are thrilled about this plan! We spent more than ten years searching for a suitable location, and we finally found one. It is eighty meters away from the Jiannan Station on the Wenhu Line of the Taipei MRT and parking is also very convenient. Before work started on the building, we discussed our plans with the construction company to customize the layout, including pipes, pillar position, and greenery on the ground floor to meet the specific needs of an international art exhibition space. Great care was taken in the planning of this project because it will act as a "home" in which Asia Art Center can become a more thriving enterprise, where outstanding artists all around the world can bring their exquisite art to share with audience."

Thomas Lee, Chairman

Asia Art Center

"The opening of Asia Art Center's flagship space marks our ambition of presenting even more diverse and international art curation and exchange projects by creating a greater space for the cross-cultural aesthetics of the future."

Alan Lee, Managing Director

 Asia Art Center (Beijing)

"The broad space of the new headquarter provides artists with a stage on which to showcase their creativity and passion in an unprecedented manner, providing viewers the works with a visual feast and sense of spiritual satisfaction. Excellent works absolutely need a space of excellent quality in which to be exhibited in order for their brilliance to be fully appreciated and realized."

Steven Lee, Managing Director

 Asia Art Center (Taipei)

Asia Art Center currently has branches in downtown Taipei, Beijing 798 Art District and Shanghai M50 Creative Park, with a combined total of more than 3,000 square meters in display space. Asia Art Center has been committed to the promotion and exchange of post-war Asian modern and contemporary art, including overseas Chinese artists, Taiwan's Fifth Moon Group and Eastern Painting Group, Japan's Mono-ha and Gutai, South Korea's Dansaekhwa (monochrome painting), Singapore's Nanyang School, Indonesia's Bandung and Yogyakarta Schools, Filipino modern art and etc. Over the past few years Asia Art Center has organized hundreds of art events worldwide.

Under the specific circumstances of infectious prevention and control work, Li Yushuang Solo Exhibition at the Asia Art Center (Beijing) and a solo exhibition by Japanese postwar Mono-ha master Susumu Koshimizu at the Asia Art Center (Shanghai), both originally planned for March 2020, have been postponed.
