一、竞赛主题


_

    面对新型冠状病毒(Novel Coronavirus)的肆虐,全体中国人民以及其他一些国家和地区都积极参与抗击疫情之中,我们经历了身体和心理的伤痛,同时也增长了经验,磨砺了意志。不管我们身在何地,都在以不同的方式共抗疫情。作为这一事件的“亲历者”,请您用英语文字叙述你的经历,表达你的感受。



二、竞赛题型及参赛方式说明

初赛:根据竞赛主题自拟题目,创作记叙文(400-500词)1篇,满分100分。初赛稿件征集从2020年2月8日开始,到2020年2月28日结束。稿件(答题卷上请备注姓名、学号、院系及联系方式)请发送到竞赛邮箱:starfishcup@163.com

复赛:定题写作,根据给定题目创作记叙文(400-500词)1篇,满分100分。复赛将通过超星学习通平台进行,选手通过扫描或邀请码进入网络赛场参赛,写作时间共120分钟。复赛时间暂定为3月中旬,具体时间另行通知。

决赛:材料写作,根据给定材料自拟题目,创作记叙文(800词以上)或议论文(800词以上)1篇,满分100分。决赛将通过超星学习通平台进行,选手通过扫描或邀请码进入网路赛场参赛,写作时间共180分钟。复赛时间暂定为4月中旬,具体时间另行通知。



三、参赛对象与人群

参赛对象

本次比赛面向全校学生,专业、年级不限。

奖项设置

依据参赛人数设一等奖、二等奖、三等奖若干;成绩优异的同学将有机会参加更高级别的学科竞赛。

四、初赛赛题

Narrative Writing (100 points)

    The novel coronavirus, as a PHEIC (Public Health Emergency of International Concern), has impacted greatly on life and work of Chinese at home and abroad. Faced with the battle against the novel coronavirus, every Chinese is going through different experiences. Write a narrative prose in 400-500 words from your perspective, sharing your stories and experiences. A title is needed.



五、写作类型说明

记叙文写作(Narrative Writing)

侧重考查选手的话题理解、语言运用、细节描写、形象思维、创意构思、人文素养等综合能力。

Content/Ideas (40%)

1.Theme is strong and well-defined;

2.Setting, characters, and plot are fully fleshed out and connected;

3.Writing uses multiple subplots (if appropriate);

4.Ending is fitting and effective, and provides a sense of completion.

Organization/Development (30% )

1.Flow of action is logical and deliberate;

2.Vivid and imaginative descriptive details are provided;

3. Writing reflects a unique, consistent personal voice;

4. Writing uses appropriate and varied rhetorical devices.

Language (30%)

1. Spelling is accurate;

2. Writing displays consistent facility in use of language;

3.Writing demonstrates appropriate register, syntactic variety, and effective use of vocabulary.


议论文写作(Argumentative Writing)

侧重考查选手的话题理解、信息综合处理、判断分析、逻辑思辨、评价论述等能力,展示选手的知识 广度、视野维度、思想深度等综合素质。

Content/Ideas (40%)

1. Writing effectively addresses the topic and the task;

2. Writing presents an insightful position on the issue;

3.The position is strongly and substantially supported or argued.

Organization/Development (30% )

1. Writing is well-organized and well-developed, using appropriate rhetorical devices (e.g.  exemplifications, classification, analysis, comparison/contrast, etc.) to support the thesis or to  illustrate ideas;

2. Writing displays coherence, progression, consistency and unity;

3. Textual elements are well-connected through explicit logical and/or linguistic transitions.

Language (30%)

1.Spelling is accurate;

2.Writing displays consistent facility in use of language;

3.Writing demonstrates appropriate register, syntactic variety, and effective use of vocabulary.
