How to Get Your Degree Authenticated？

When applying for China work permits or other purposes related to China, foreigners may be asked to get their degrees authenticated, if the degree is issued by an overseas university.
Foreigners may authenticate their degrees by one of the following methods:
(1) a Chinese consulate/embassy,
(2) foreign consulates in China, or
(3) the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) of MOE.
Method (3) is probably the most cost-effective way to authenticate an overseas degree, however, not everyone is aware of that. Let’s see how it works.
The Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) is an institution directly under China’s Ministry of Education. One of CSCSE’s services is the authentication of degrees issued by international universities, which could be completed online.
Once the applicant creates a CSCSE account by entering his/her cellphone number, he/she can submit the application by uploading color scanned copies of all required documents and submitting payment (360 RMB) online.
Documents required :
1. Degree certificate;
2. Passport;
3. Recent photo;
4. Signed power of attorney;
5. Others.
(For degree issued in certain countries, such as Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Philippines, Pakistan, Malaysia, Italy, Spain, France, Hungary, Ireland, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, etc. additional documents will be required.)

Typically, it takes CSCSE about 10 to 15 days to issue a digital authentication certificate. No paper certificate will be provided.
Note:
*Not all overseas degrees can be authenticated by CSCSE. There are two reasons:
(1) the degree is obtained through an online program without attending classes physically and;
(2) CSCSE fails to get a response by email from the university that issues the degree.
If the application is rejected, CSCSE will issue a notification stating the reasons and the governmental fee (360RMB) will be refunded.
