International Day for the Elimination of Violence against WomenSecretary-General's Message for 2019The United Nations is committed to ending all forms of violence against women and girls.These abuses are among the world’s most horrific, persistent and widespread human rights violations, affecting one in every three women in the world.暴力侵害是世界上最可怕、持续不断、普遍存在的侵犯人权行为之一，受害者占全世界妇女的三分之一。
That means someone around you. A family member, a co-worker, a friend. Or even you yourself.也就是说，受害者就在我们身边。她们可能是家庭成员，可能是同事朋友，也可能就是你自己。Sexual violence against women and girls is rooted in centuries of male domination.Let us not forget that the gender inequalities that fuel rape culture are essentially a question of power imbalances.我们不应忘记，助长强奸文化的性别不平等本质上是权力不平等问题。Stigma, misconceptions, underreporting and poor enforcement of the laws only perpetuate impunity.污名化、误解、事件漏报、执法不力，只能使犯罪不受惩罚现象长期存在。
And rape is still being used as a horrendous weapon of war. All of that must change… now.强奸仍然被用作可怕的战争武器。这一切都必须改变。我们必须从现在做起。
I call on governments, the private sector, civil society and people everywhere to take a firm stand against sexual violence and misogyny.我呼吁各国政府、私营部门、民间社会、各地民众，坚定地应对性暴力和厌恶女性行为。
We must show greater solidarity with survivors, advocates and women’s rights defenders.我们必须给幸存者、倡导者、妇女权利维护者以更有力的声援。
And we must promote women’s rights and equal opportunities.
Together, we can – and must -- end rape and sexual assault of all kinds.我们能够而且必须共同努力，结束一切形式的强奸和性侵犯行为。
