Lhasa Tour

The imposing Potala Palace is the highlight of any trip to Tibet. Today you are going to visit this majestic architectural treasure of Lhasa, over 3,700 meters above sea level.

The whole architectural complex includes two parts, the White Palace and the Red Palace. The White Palace is the place for political affairs in old days, while the Red Palace mainly houses the stupas. Your tour guide will share a wealth of information to help you understand its history and Tibetan Buddhism.

After that, continue to explore the holy Jokhang Temple which has a history of over 1,300 years. The temple is a mixture of Tibetan, Tang, Nepalese, and Indian architectural styles and has become an iconic example of Tibetan religious architecture.

The interior is so impressive with plenty of statues, colorful murals, and rows of butter lamps. It's not allowed to take photos at most parts, but you will have the opportunity to take some on the rooftop.

After that, you will follow your tour guide threading your way through the throngs of pilgrims and other travelers on the mesmerizing Barkhor Street. This old street will give you a taste of Tibetan people's life and their faith. You can casually walk around and do some shopping.

Transfer back to your hotel in the end.

Lhasa Tour

After breakfast, we will visit a Tibetan family in Dadong Village. This village is mainly a local agricultural development, including mulberry sericulture medicine factories and coconut oil factories. The main agricultural products are watermelon, soybean, strawberry, and potato. It was selected as one of the second batch of key villages in the country in August 2020 and has since become an attractive farm tourism area.

Next, continue the Buddhism trip to Sera Monastery, the second largest monastery in Tibet built in the Ming Dynasty. The monks' daily debate about Buddhism in Sera Monastery earns its fame in the Tibetan region, which is unmissable for travelers all over the world.

Transfer back to your hotel in the end.

Lhasa-Gyantse-Shigatse, 370km, Approx 6hrs

Today's first stop will be the charming

Yamdroktso Lake, one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet.

It is famed as "the Most Beautiful Lake in the World". When looking at it from a map or sky, you will be surprised to see the lake embedded in this land, glittering like an earring under the sunshine.

After that, drive to the Karola Glacier with an elevation of 5400 meters. After you get off the car, the magnificent glacier jumps into your eyes with its shining body soaked in the gentle sunshine. Don't worry to be frequently interrupted by other tourists while snapping photos as it is usually off the beaten track.

Stop by Manla Reservoir, the unique scenery around the mountains with an average elevation of 4330 meters.

Embedded onto the awe-inspiring mountains, the Reservoir is glittering in its transparent green water, showing a distinct beauty from the blue water of Yambork Lake.

Afterwards, come to the most important site in Gyantse - Pelkor Chode Monastery, located in Gyangze Country, Shigatse area.

Surrounded by hills, this Monastery is a typical Tibetan Buddhist structure with a harmonious fusion of pagodas and temples, fully representing the architectural style of monasteries in Shigatse from the late 13th century to the middle 15th century.

Besides, you'll also have a chance to see the notable Kumbum Stupa (its official name is Bodhi Dagoba) injecting a more special charm into the monastery. It has 9 tiers, 77 chapels and shrines, and 108 gates, housing hundreds of thousands of Buddha images, hence the name "the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagodas".

Hotel: standard 4-star hotel in Shigatse

Shigatse-Rongpuk (Everest Base Camp) 340km/6 hrs driving

Today, continue your adventure to the amazing Mt. Everest! Firstly, drive around 150km to Lhatse, a small town where you can have lunch in a local restaurant.

Then drive to Shegar. If the weather is clear enough, tourists can view Mt. Everest in the distance on the way.

After 4 to 6 hours, arrive at Rongbuk Monastery, and on the way there, you will pass Pang La Pass, one of the highest passes in Tibet at 5,050 meters above sea level. From that pass, you can admire a stunning view of the five highest peaks in the world.

Good to know:

1. Tent camp: normally 8-12 people would share a tent together but it's clean. Please note that the tent camp has very limited facilities and food options, don't expect room facilities and services like in urban hotels.

2. If the tent camp is removed from October to April due to the cold weather, you will stay overnight in the monastery guesthouse.

3. Due to the high altitude and cold weather, you are recommended to keep warm and drink a lot of water to reduce altitude sickness symptoms.
