Sources from Korea Yonhap News Agency revealed that South Korean Ambassador of China Zhang Hasung has announced in a conference with Korean reporters in Beijing on Jun 27, that China and South Korea has agreed to issue visas to Korean students and employed workers (Z visa holders) who hold valid residence permits for visa applications.

Zhang has said that China and South Korea has had active communication related to the liberalization of entry restrictions. The success of Korea’s anti-epidemic efforts has played an important part in breaking the ice of the visa policy. With the introduction of the new policy, it is expected that international students may return to school before the start of September.

Korea Yonhap News Agency has also reported that the Chinese side is likely to start processing the above-mentioned visa business from early August, and that holders of expired residence cards are not eligible for Chinese visa issuance. The Korean Embassy in China will meet on July 28 to discuss visa application matters for Korean citizens.

In addition, South Korea will adopt reciprocal measures to ease visa restrictions on China under the agreement. China and South Korea have also agreed on increasing the number of flight routes, further improving the current situation where flight tickets are extremely difficult to obtain.
