Who Can Apply for Stay Visas and How?
Stay permits(known as stay visa) are mainly for foreigners whose reason for residence has been terminated and who need to stay in China longer for humanitarian reasons or other necessary reasons.
For example, those stranded in China due to flight cancellations during the epidemic.
Who can apply
1. Visa-exempt foreigners who need to stay in China longer than the visa exemption period due to reasons other than diplomatic or official ones;
2. Foreign seamen and their accompanying family members who need to leave the cities where their ships are mooring;
3. Those who have been approved to renounce their Chinese nationality and need to stay in China;
4. Foreigners whose reason for residence has been terminated and who need to stay in China longer for humanitarian reasons;
For example:
Cause of physical conditions; cause of epidemic; people who need time to prepare to leave China after their residence permits are canceled.
5. Foreign infants born in China who need to stay in the country;
6. Other circumstances necessitating a stay permit for foreigners.

Documents required
1. The applicant's original, valid passport and visa;
2. A completed Visa and Residence Permit Application Form for Foreigners.
3. Supporting documents consistent with the reason for application:
Foreigners whose reason for residence has been terminated shall submit proof of such termination. For example, a release letter or graduation certificate.
Relevant documents proving other reasons for the stay, such as:(政府提供的文件或线上申请截图)
Materials proving your work visa is being processed;
Proof of business registration in process. (eg: Enterprise registration verification form 企业注册核名表单).
Government-provided documents; Screenshots of online applications or other proof.
Note
Exit-entry administrations of public security organs may, as they deem necessary, require applicants to attend an interview or submit additional supporting documents.
Applications that fail to provide the requisite information within the required time will be rejected.
Processing time
Within 5 business days for applications with complete documents required.
