2021 Post-doctoral Fellowships of Shandong University
Shandong University (SDU) offers some of the best research environments in the world and invites recently qualified post-doctoral researchers to start their independent research careers here. SDU established its first post-doctoral research station in 1991 and currently has 41 post-doctoral research stations. In 2020, eight of the research stations were listed as excellent in a national evaluation, ranking seventh among universities in China. Introduction to Shandong University
Shandong University is a key comprehensive university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. As a university with a long history, strong academic strengths and global reputation, Shandong University has been selected as a "Double First Class University" (Class A), an initiative designed by the Chinese Ministry of Education that aims to develop elite Chinese universities and their departments into world-class institutions by the end of 2050.
Shandong University comprises 8 campuses in Jinan, Weihai and Qingdao, collectively covering an area of over 533 hectares. The past several years have witnessed a significant rise in the educational and research quality at SDU, resulting in a steady growth in its international influence. At present, 18 disciplines have reached the top 1% of ESI and 5 disciplines have reached the top 1‰ of ESI in terms of academic contributions and influence, and we have signed collaboration agreements with nearly 200 universities in more than 30 countries and regions.
Post-doctoral Fellowships Available
This fellowship is specially designed to identify, cultivate and promote promising young scholars early in their careers. Fellows should have strong academic backgrounds and have made a significant contribution to their own research field.
This fellowship funds up to 80 fellows.
Fellows are selected from among young academics who are committed to pursuing publishable research and are likely to make a significant contribution to their own research field.
This fellowship funds up to 150 fellows.
This fellowship funds young scholars to participate in major research programs.
This fellowship funds up to 150 fellows.
Eligibility
Applicants should be under the age of 35 and demonstrate strong academic and research abilities and abide by academic ethics.
Applicants must be either in the final year of their PhD studies or up to 3 years of receiving a doctoral degree from a top university or research institution.
The research project for a post-doctoral fellowship should be cutting-edge, innovative and feasible.
Applicants are expected to devote at least 21 months to their postdoctoral research at Shandong University.

Shandong University offers post-doctoral fellows a competitive salary and a standard medical insurance plan.
Special-Funded Fellowship
No less than 300,000 RMB/year
Young-Scholar Fellowship
No less than 200,000 RMB/year
Special-Program Fellowship
No less than 120,000 RMB/year
Furthermore, candidates who meet the qualifications set by the local government will receive an additional subsidy. For example, candidates based on Qingdao campus can receive a living allowance of 30,000 RMB per person and housing allowance of 30,000 RMB per person from the Qingdao government.

Future scholarly path for the fellows
Fellows in Special-Funded fellowships will have the opportunity to transfer to teaching positions after the completion of their post-doctoral work. They can participate in Young Talents selection programs, such as Qilu Young Talents. Fellows with Young-Scholar fellowships or Special-Program fellowships may apply for positions at Shandong University after the completion of their post-doctoral work.
Colorful academic exchange activities
The university has established the Post-doctoral Fellows Society which aims to promote academic exchanges and cooperation between post-doctoral fellows in various disciplines. It also attempts to promote communication between local communities and enterprises and our fellows. All kinds of post-doctoral academic forums and sessions for post-doctoral projects will be held every year.
Application Procedures
Candidates submit applications to post-doctoral stations.
Post-doctoral stations review the applications.
The Academic Committee of the deparatment assesses the academic achievements and potential of the applicants.
The university reviews the applications. In particular, the academic achievements and potential of the applicants for the Special-Funded fellowship will be assessed by the Academic Committee of the university.
