BYD overtakes Tesla as global new energy vehicle sales champion?
On the evening of July 3, BYD announced its June production and sales snapshot, selling 134,036 new energy vehicles in June, up 224.02% year-on-year and 16.61% sequentially; in the first half of this year, BYD sold a total of 641,350 new energy vehicles, with a cumulative year-on-year growth of 314.90%.
It is worth noting that according to Tesla's 2022 second quarter production and delivery report, Tesla's global delivery volume in the first half of 2022 was 564,000 new energy vehicles, up 46% year-on-year from 386,200 vehicles in the first half of 2021.
This means that BYD maintains its position as the leading independent domestic new energy vehicle, while also surpassing Tesla and becoming the global new energy vehicle sales champion.
