What makes Huili Primary School so special?

Huili School Nantong

What makes Huili Primary School so special?

Our Head of Primary will give you the answer.

The Primary years at Huili School Nantong will be special. They will be a time when  we  guide our pupils as they transition from Early Years  and pave their path of learning to ensure that they are ultimately prepared for Junior High.

We will help the children develop through a rigorous, educational experience, instilling in them the academic and holistic characteristics needed for the wider world and different cultural experiences they will face in the years ahead. We will constantly encourage your children to find their passions and support them along the way with high-quality teaching and world-class facilities.

Huili School Nantong’s Primary section will run from  grade 1 to grade 6 and incorporate a traditional Chinese curriculum, including its culture and history, alongside an international perspective. Working closely with our colleagues in the other sections of the school, we will deliver a truly immersive,  bilingual environment which is planned, developed and implemented by quality educators. The Huili curriculum will ensure that our Chinese and foreign teachers work closely together to promote the learning of each subject with the essential integration of both Chinese and English  languages. This high-quality, balanced and bilingual approach with a tailor-made model is what makes us special. With the Chinese National Curriculum at the centre and embedded with the best primary practices from the UK,  our approach will be strong in content and connect all areas of learning to the very highest standards.

Pupils who transition from Huili Nursery Nantong will be supported and nurtured within an environment which continues to inspire, explore and build the foundations within the bilingual experience. As the children move up through the Primary School, the learning opportunities will become more  individualised, and we will develop their inquiry, critical thinking and decision-making skills. As we expose them to more individual subject  specialisms, including Performing Arts and Design Technology, the  foundations will be built, necessary for their transition  into Junior High.

It is important to see every pupil reach their full potential at Huili School Nantong. We are committed to a holistic education, and we will focus on more than just academics. The development and nurturing of our pupils to be just as strong in their personal and social growth is a key objective for us. To support this, we have developed an outstanding pastoral programme  that fully incorporates our Huili Identity and Values.

To be Inspired, Intellectual,  Independent, Individual, and Inclusive are the traits we will continue to work towards throughout the Primary School journey so that every child enters Junior High with the foundations needed for their remaining years in the school. To help achieve this we are  committed to offering a high-quality, wide-ranging selection of activities as part of our co-curricular programme. The CCAs will take place at the end of the school day and will give our pupils the chance to develop and grow their talents in areas outside the classroom. In addition to the academic programme, we look forward to seeing Huili pupils thriving and excelling in sports, the arts, student leadership and much more  besides.

The Primary Section of the school will be special because of the journey we will all take together: we want the children to embrace challenges and be persistent with a learning mindset that encourages development through both success and failure. Character, intelligence and creative ability are not fixed, and we believe all pupils are capable of improvement with the right support.

It is, therefore, important to us as a community that the relationship between home and school is productive and based on a mutual aspiration for your children to be challenged and to flourish over the years they are with us at Huili School Nantong and then beyond. We want to ensure that all our children are invested in their proud heritage whilst also creating global citizens of the future who are ready to meet the challenges the future will bring.
