Jay Chou has released a music video for his new single ‘Greatest Works Of Art’ that was shot in Paris and features Chinese pianist Lang Lang.

The new music video, shared July 6, was directed by Chou himself. It was set in the Samaritaine department store located in the French capital, and features visual references to Belgian artist René Magritte’s “The Son Of Man” painting and an actor resembling the surrealist Salvador Dalí. Both artists are mentioned in the song’s lyrics, as are Matisse, Monet and Van Gogh.

Halfway through the ‘Greatest Works Of Art’ video, Chou faces off with Lang Lang at the piano.

Last month, the Taiwanese Mandopop star had hinted at a new album in a vlog shot in Paris, teasing “old sounds” recorded with vintage instruments. In the final seconds of the video, Chou appears to be performing and recording music while standing on the staircase of the Palais Garnier opera house.

That vlog also revealed an album release date of July 15. The new record will be his first studio album since 2016’s ‘Jay Chou’s Bedtime Stories’.

Chou is due to tour Singapore at the end of the year, performing sold-out shows on December 17 and 18 at the National Stadium. He will perform in Malaysia on January 15, 2023.

Taiwanese superstar Jay Chou's new album has received a low rating of 5.3 on Chinese review website Douban, even though it has not been officially released.

Chou, 43, announced in June that his long-awaited album, whose title is believed to be The Greatest Work, would be out on July 15.

The highly anticipated project is his first studio album in six years, since 2016's Jay Chou's Bedtime Stories.

The Mandopop star disclosed further on Friday (July 1) that he would be debuting a new music video on July 6.

However, fans from China discovered that his new album had already been reviewed on Douban on Monday.

The rating was as low as 5.3 in the beginning, rising to 5.8 and then 7.5 eventually.

More than half of the so-called reviews gave the album a five-star rating, and there were even a few reviews which gave it a one-star rating, claiming that Chou has run out of ideas in his new album.

Douban took to Chinese social media platform Weibo on Monday evening, apologising for allowing users to review an unreleased album and blaming it on a "software bug".

"We have turned off the ratings and cleared all the reviews," it said.

Douban also promised that similar errors would not occur again.

The issue even caught the attention of China's official People's Daily on Monday, which commented on Weibo that there is a need to stop the disorderly fandom culture.
