The following is a list of frequently asked questions that were raised during our live Q&A online session held earlier this week in response to the latest visa policies.

I have a business visa but it is about to expire and I cannot leave China during this time. What should I do?

If you’re in Shanghai, you can apply for the visitor visa. If you’re in other cities, you can just stay at home. Feel free to give the immigration bureau a call for an answer.

Do I need to have a medical check when I return to China with a Z visa?

Foreigners have different understanding of the Z visa. If you have a work permit within the validity period, you do not need to do a new medical examination. If you have received a work permit notice when applying overseas, you need to have a temporary 30-day Z visa to enter the country and do the medical check, and then change to a residence permit.

The work permit is valid until September, but my visa is about to expire. I’m not in China now, what should I do?

You can first apply for a business visa or a tourist visa to enter China. After entering China, you can convert it into the residence permit.

I hold a work permit and it will expire soon. What should I do?

How do I renew my application online?

I graduated in December last year, and a Chinese company wants to hire me at the end of April. Do I need 2 years of work experience to apply for a V visa?

If you have a bachelor's degree, you need 2 years of relevant work experience. With a graduate degree and a GPA of 80 or more, you can apply for a V visa. If neither is satisfied, you can check how many points you can get in the point system. If you can reach 60 points, you can also apply.

I have registered a company in China, but I don’t have a bachelor’s degree. I now have a Q1 visa. How do I get the work visa?

If you're the legal person, you can apply as a company legal person. If not, determine if you're a shareholder. If not, the case cannot be handled. If you are a shareholder, you can prepare a foreign business record receipt and apply as a legal person. When renewing a visa, you must hire a Chinese and pay him more than 6 months of social security.
