2022年度纳米研究青年科学家奖(NR45 Awards)—纳米催化领域获奖名单及奖项专刊

为表彰献身科学事业、潜心钻研学术、长期从事纳米科学和纳米技术前沿领域研究并做出杰出贡献的优秀青年科学家,《纳米研究》编辑部设立了年度纳米研究青年科学家奖(Nano Research Young Innovators (NR45) Awards)。此奖项候选人由《纳米研究》编委会中一线科学家推荐、由奖项委员会严格评选,最终获奖人为有望实现重大科研突破、在该领域具有潜力做出巨大贡献、现已取得杰出成就的青年科学家。纳米研究青年科学家奖 (NR45 Awards) 每年按照科研领域授予最多45位年龄不超过45岁的优秀青年科研人员。我们非常荣幸地宣布2022年纳米催化领域纳米研究青年科学家奖 (NR45 Awards) 的获奖者如下,祝贺这30位45岁以下的杰出青年科学家!同时《纳米研究》组织了相应的奖项专刊,所有论文均来自本届纳米研究青年科学家奖 (NR45 Awards) 获奖青年科学家研究团队。奖项专刊已于2022年12月期出版,欢迎各位专家阅读。

鉴于在科研领域里,青年科学家普遍活跃、精力旺盛、思路新颖、研究想法丰富,有较多产生科研新突破的机会。同时许多杰出科学家都是在中青年时期就取得了重大的原创性科研成果或者成功解决了业界关键的核心技术难题,因此《纳米研究》对青年科学家的投稿十分重视,特别是对于国家重点支持的青年科学家来稿,编辑部都会重点关注并且快速审稿,为青年科学家的学术工作提供便捷服务。


2022年度纳米研究青年科学家奖获奖人及介绍

(排名不分先后)

Yi-Jun Xu is currently a full professor at Fuzhou University. He received his B.S. degree from East China University of Technology in 2000, M.S. degree from Fuzhou University in 2003, and his Ph.D. degree from Cardiff University in 2006. From 2007 to 2009, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society. His research group works in the area of heterogeneous photoredox catalysis, mainly focusing on the design of composites based catalysts, the fundamental studies of catalyst structures and catalytic reaction mechanisms, and exploring their versatile redox catalytic applications in heterogeneous photocatalysis.


Fuxiang Zhang is currently a full professor of physical chemistry at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). He obtained his B.S. in 1999 and Ph.D. in 2004 at Nankai University and then worked as faculty there. From 2007 to 2011, he pursued postdoctoral research at University of Pierre and Marie Curie, and then at the University of Tokyo. His current research interests include the development of novel (photo)catalytic materials and the construction of efficient solar-to-chemical energy conversion systems.


Ghim Wei Ho is currently a full professor of Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at National University of Singapore (NUS). She leads the Sustainable Smart Solar System research group working on fundamental and applied research on nanosystems with emerging low dimensional nanomaterials, interfacial interactions and hybridized functionalities for energy, environment, electronics and healthcare.


Wenyu Huang received a B.S. in chemistry from Nanjing University in 2000. After having received an M.S. in 2002 also from Nanjing University, he started his Ph.D. research with Prof. Mostafa A. El-Sayed at Georgia Institute of Technology and received his Ph.D. in 2007. Dr. Huang then began postdoctoral research with Prof. Gabor A. Somorjai and Prof. Peidong Yang at University of California, Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in August 2007. He joined the faculty at Iowa State in August 2011 as an assistant professor and promoted to an associate professor in 2017, and to a full professor in 2021.


Gang Liu is a professor and the Deputy Director of Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Materials Physics from Jilin University in 2003 and obtained his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009. His main research interests mainly focus on energy conversion materials and devices for clean fuels.


Jin-Song Hu received his Ph.D. at Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS) in 2005, then served as an assistant professor at ICCAS and was promoted as an associate professor in 2007. He visited City University of Hong Kong in 2007–2008 and worked at Harvard University in 2008–2011. Since 2011, he serves as a full professor at ICCAS. His research interests include 1) low-cost and efficient electrocatalysts for hydrogen generation and applications as well as electrochemical conversion of small molecules into value-added products; 2) low-cost solar energy conversion such as perovskite solar cells, etc.


Hongyang Liu is a professor at Shenyang National Lab for Materials Science, Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his B.S. from School of Chemical Engineering, Dalian University of Technology in 2003 and Ph.D. from State Key Laboratory of Catalysis, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009; He was a postdoctoral fellow of University of Missouri and Oak Ridge National Laboratory before joining the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences at the end of 2011. His research team is focusing on the precise fabrication of nanocarbon supported atomically dispersed metal catalyst for efficient conversion of light alkanes.


Botao Qiao received his Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry from Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2008. After 3 years’ postdoctoral research in Prof. Tao Zhang’s group at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, he joined the same group in 2011 and was promoted to a full professor in 2017. Under the supervision of Prof. Zhang, he developed single-atom catalyst by practical method based on which they put forward the concept of “single-atom catalysis”. Now his research interests are mainly focused on the fundamental understanding of single-atom catalysis in energy conversion and environmental catalysis and on promoting the practical application of single-atom catalysts. He is currently an editorial board member of a few journals and has published over 90 peer-reviewed papers with over 15,000 citations.


Yong Wang received his B.S. degree from Xiangtan University and his Ph.D. degree from Zhejiang University. After a postdoctoral stay at Department of Chemistry, Zhejiang University, he joined the Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces in 2009. He rejoined Zhejiang University and became a professor for Chemistry in 2011. Now he is Ph.D. supervisor, director of Institute of Catalysis at Department of Chemistry in Zhejiang University. He was included in the Highly Cited Researcher list by Clarivate Analytics 2020 and 2021 (Web of Science™, Thomson Reuters) in the field of Cross‐Field and Chemistry, respectively. His research group has been focusing on the basic science and applied research for the design and development of novel materials for heterogeneous catalysis and energy conversion. The group strives to pursue green energy technologies and the fundamental science that make these technologies a reality.


Hai-Long Jiang is a professor of chemistry at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He received Ph.D. degree from Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008 and subsequently work as AIST and JSPS fellow at National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST, Japan) in 2008–2011. After a postdoctoral stint at Texas A&M University, he joined the faculty of USTC in 2013. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in 2018 and was annually listed as a highly cited researcher (chemistry) by Clarivate Analytics since 2017. He has published more than 180 papers with over 34,000 citations (H index 91), in which 63 papers are listed as highly cited papers by ESI. His research interest is currently lies in biomimetic microenvironment modulation (MEM) of catalytic centers based on crystalline porous materials (particularly MOFs).


Qi-Long Zhu is a professor at Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He received his Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry from FJIRSM-CAS in 2012 under the supervision of Prof. Xin-Tao Wu. He then joined Prof. Qiang Xu's group at National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST, Japan) as the postdoctoral and Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) fellow. He held a full professorship in 2017 at FJIRSM-CAS. He has published more than 130 peer-reviewed papers. His group currently focuses on the development of porous and nanostructured materials for catalytic and energy-related applications.


Jie Zeng is a professor at Hefei National Research Center for Physical Sciences at the Microscale, University of Science and Technology of China. He received a number of awards, including Special Award of China Youth Science and Technology Award (2020), Evonik Chemical Innovation Award Presented in Partnership with the Chinese Chemical Society (2019), the 1st prize in Anhui Province’s Natural Science Award (2018), Debang Hou Chemical Engineering Science and Technology Youth Award (2018), etc. Up to now, he has published 198 papers in prestigious journals (Nat. Nanotechnol., Nat. Catal., Nat. Energy, Nat. Commun., etc.), 4 invited books, and 72 patents. His current research interest is the catalytic conversion of carbon dioxide.


Jingshan Luo is a full professor and vice director of the Institute of Photoelectronic Thin Film Devices and Technology at Nankai University. He received his B.S. degree in Jilin University in 2010 and his Ph.D. degree from Nanyang Technological University in 2014. After that, he went to École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland for postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Prof. Michael Grätzel, where he led the solar fuel subgroup. In 2018, he joined Nankai University. Jingshan Luo has authored/co-authored more than 110 peer-reviewed publications in Science, Nat. Energy, Nat. Catal. and other journals in the energy and catalysis fields, which have garnered more than 21,000 literature citations and an H-index of 66 (Google Scholar). He has received many awards and honors, such as the Excellent Young Scholar Fund from National Science Foundation of China, the MIT Technology Review TR35 in China, and the 2018–2021 Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics.


Qian Wang is currently an associate professor at Nagoya University, Japan. She obtained her Ph.D. in 2014 at the University of Tokyo and then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Japan Technological Research Association of Artificial Photosynthetic Chemical Processes (ARPChem). In 2018, she became a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge. She joined Nagoya University as an associate professor in May 2021 and established her research group, which is currently developing new materials, approaches, and technologies for solar energy storage in the form of renewable fuels via artificial photosynthesis.


Guodong Li is a professor at National Center for Nanoscience and Technology. He received his B.S. degree from University of Jinan in 2004, M.S. degree from Ocean University of China in 2007, and Ph.D. degree from Beijing University of Chemical Technology in 2011. Then, he joined National Center for Nanoscience and Technology. He was a visiting scholar in Stanford University from 2016 to 2017. His research interests are focused on design and fabrication of inorganic nanocomposites with well-defined structures as well as their application in catalysis and energy.


Bin Zhang received his Ph.D. degree from University of Science and Technology of China in 2007. He carried out postdoctoral research at University of Pennsylvania (July 2007 to July 2008) and worked as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (August 2008 to July 2009). Currently, he is a professor at Tianjin University and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). He mainly focuses on the controlled chemical transformation synthesis of inorganic materials for water-involved catalytic applications from transfer hydrogenation reactions to sustainable nitrogen chemistry.


Xinhao Li completed each of his academic degrees at Department of Chemistry of Jilin University from 1999 to 2009, receiving his Ph.D. degree in 2009 supervised by Prof. Jie-Sheng Chen. He then joined in Prof. Markus Antonietti’ s group as an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral researchers at the Max-Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces from 2009 to 2012. Since 2013, he has been a professor in School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His current scientific interest is mainly focused on the design and synthesis of Mott Schottky catalysts for green catalysis.



Menny Shalom was born in 1979 in Tel Aviv, Israel. He received his B.S. in chemistry in 2007 from Bar-Ilan University. Afterward, he pursued M.S. and Ph.D. degrees under Prof. Arie Zaban at Bar-Ilan University, researching quantum dot sensitized solar cells. He then joined Prof. Markus Antonietti at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (MPI), Germany, as a Minerva fellowship fellow for his postdoc. From 2013 to 2016, he was appointed as a group leader in MPI, and since the end of 2016, he has been an associate professor at Ben‐Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. His group focuses on synthesizing new materials for energy conversion applications, mainly photo-electrochemical cells and electrocatalysts. Menny’s group has published more than 50 papers in well-known journals. Menny’s list of awards includes the Wolf Foundation Award for an Excellent M.Sc. student (2009), Wolf Foundation Award for Excellent Ph.D. students (2012), ICS prize for an outstanding Ph.D. student (2012), Israel Vacuum Society Award (2018), Toronto Prize for Excellence in Research (2018), ERC starting grant (2019), ICS Excellent Young Scientist Prize (2020), and the Blavatnik Award for Young Scientists in Israel (2022).


Sihui Zhan received his Ph.D. degree in Inorganic Chemistry from Shandong University and then joined Nankai University in 2007. He is now a full professor in College of Environmental Science and Engineering. Prof. Zhan’s research interests focus on water pollution control chemistry, which aims to remove the refractory organic pollutants from water. He has published more than 100 SCI papers with over 5000 total citations. He has received the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the China Youth Science and Technology Award, and the Gold Award for Young Scientist Award of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences.


Shaohua Shen obtained his Bachelor degree in applied chemistry in 2004 and Ph.D. degree in thermal engineering in 2010 from Xi'an Jiaotong University. During 2008–2009 and 2011–2012, he worked as a guest researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and a postdoctoral researcher at University of California at Berkeley. He is currently a professor at Xi'an Jiaotong University, and the receipt of National Top-notch Young Professionals and Young Scholars of the Yangtze River in China. His research interests include synthesis of nanomaterials and development of devices for photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical solar energy conversion. He has published more than 100 papers in Nat. Energy, Chem. Rev., Adv. Mater., Nano Lett., etc., that have received more than 12,000 citations.


Ya-Qian Lan received his Ph.D. (2009) from Northeast Normal University, under the supervision of Prof. Zhong-Min Su. In 2010, he joined the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST, Japan) working as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow. In 2012, he became a professor of chemistry at Nanjing Normal University. He joined South China Normal University in 2021, and is now a professor of chemistry. His current research interests focus on the synthesis of new crystalline materials and catalytic research related to clean energy applications.


Xiaoxin Zou has received his Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Jilin University in June 2011; and then moved to University of California, Riverside, and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, as a postdoctoral scholar from July 2011 to October 2013. He is currently a professor at the State Key Laboratory of Inorganic Synthesis and Preparative Chemistry in Jilin University. His research interests are in hydrogen energy materials chemistry, comprising the elucidation of the atomic basis for water splitting electrocatalysts, the prediction and searching of efficient catalysts with novel crystal structures as well as the preparative technology of industrial water splitting catalysts. Some of his recent progresses include the computation-driven structural design/engineering of water splitting catalysts, the structural understanding and synthetic methods of interstitial intermetallic catalysts, the design principles of low-iridium oxygen-evolution catalysts for PEM electrolyzers, and the synthetic technology of large-area, highly stable electrode materials for alkaline electrolyzers. He has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed papers and 10 patents.


Brian A. Rosen is an associate professor in Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Tel Aviv University and the Director of the Energy Materials Laboratory. Prof. Rosen's lab specializes in the design of novel ceramic catalysts for fuel cells (PEMFC, AFC, H₂/NH₃-SOFC), and synthetic fuel production (H₂, NH₃, syngas) via thermochemical and electrochemical routes. The Rosen lab investigates innovative ways to modulate catalyst activity in ceramics via multi-scale defect engineering, strain engineering, and exsolution.


Ian D. Sharp received a Ph.D. in materials science & engineering from University of California, Berkeley in 2006, after which he moved to the Walter Schottky Institute at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), first as an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow and later as a Fellow of the TUM Institute for Advanced Study. In 2011, he accepted a position at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a Staff Scientist, working primarily at the Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis (JCAP). In 2017, Prof. Sharp was appointed to the Chair for Experimental Semiconductor Physics in the Walter Schottky Institute at TUM, where his group investigates functional semiconductors, interfaces, and structures for solar energy conversion, with an emphasis on photoelectrochemical production of renewable fuels. He is the recipient of the US Department of Energy Early Career Award, as well as a European Research Council Consolidator Grant.


Dengwei Jing is now a full professor at Xi'an Jiaotong University. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in the same university and is now focusing on the solar energy conversion and hydrogen production. He is the winner of National Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars, Newton Advanced Fellowship of Royal Society, and chief scientist of the first China National Key R&D program related to solar hydrogen production. He has published more than 160 SCI-indexed papers and 2 English books and authorized over 30 Chinese patents. He has won the second prize of National Natural Science Award and the first prize of Shaanxi Science and Technology Award.


Chenliang Su is a full professor at International Collaborative Laboratory of 2D Materials for Optoelectronics Science and Technology of Ministry of Education at Shenzhen University (2015 to present). He received his B.S. degree (2005) and Ph.D. degree (2010) from Department of Chemistry at Zhejiang University. After that he worked as a research fellow at Department of Chemistry at National University of Singapore (2010 to 2015). His current interests include the study of nanocatalysis for synthetic chemistry and energy-related applications. Dr. Su has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in journals such as Nat. Catal., Nat. Energy, Nat. Nanotech., Nat. Commun., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem., Int. Ed., etc. These publications have earned him to date over 6,000 citations with H-index 44. He has received a number of awards including National-level Young Talents, Youth Science and Technology Innovation Talent of Guangdong Special Program, Pengcheng Scholar of Shenzhen City, and Emerging Investigator of J. Mater. Chem. A.


Weilin Xu received his Ph.D. degree from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry (CIAC), Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2006. He did postdoc research at Cornell University, University of California, Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab from 2007 to 2011. After that, he built his own research group in CIAC by focusing on energy-process related basic and practical research, including the single-molecule nanocatalysis, the developing of functional materials for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), oxygen-evolution reaction (OER), hydrogen-evolution reaction (HER), CO₂ reduction reaction (CO₂RR) and nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR), and so on.


Yongquan Qu received his B.S. in materials science and engineering from Nanjing University in 2001, M.S. in chemistry from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2004, and Ph.D. in chemistry from University of California, Davis, in 2009. He worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in University of California, Los Angeles, from 2009 to 2011. Afterwards, he joined Frontier Institute of Science and Technology at Xi’an Jiaotong University. At 2021, he joined School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University. His research interests focus on heterogeneous catalysis in the areas of organic synthesis, clean energy production and biomedical applications.


Bao Yu Xia is currently a full professor in School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He received his Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2010. He worked at Nanyang Technological University from 2011 to 2016. His research interests focus on nanocatalysis in sustainable energy and environment technologies including fuel cells, batteries and carbon dioxide conversion.


Minkee Choi received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) under the supervision of Prof. Ryong Ryoo (chemistry). Then, he joined the group of Prof. Enrique Iglesia in Department of Chemical Engineering at University of California, Berkeley as a postdoctoral research fellow. After 2 years postdoctoral experience, he joined the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at KAIST as a faculty (December, 2010). His research interests include the design of porous materials for adsorption and catalytic applications, which include zeolites, carbons, polymers, and their composite materials.
