Each year, there are tremendous trademark applications filed in China and the numberis increasing at an amazing rate.

An example in 2017: more than 5.7 million trademark applicationswere filed with the Chinese Trademark Office (CTMO) this year, an increase ofmore than 55% from the previous year. Actually, at the end of 2017, China had14.9 million active registrations overall.

A direct consequence is: trademark available is becoming less and less.  It’s said that it’s not easy to get a two character’s trademark registered today, because identical or similar one has already betaken. English letters and combination of the letters are limited too.  So if you want to do it, you really need todo it earlier.

Another reason for doing that is the long procedure of application.  Given the massive application the CTMO has to deal with, it usually will take one and half year to get the trademark granted.  It may take even longer if there is objections and oppositions.  So why wait?
