Since May 2022, monkeypox outbreaks have been widespread in all regions of the world. To date, more than 89,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been reported in 113 countries, including

152 deaths. Recently, monkeypox outbreaks have been on the rise in Europe, the Americas and the Western Pacific.

In order to protect the health and safety of Chinese entry-exit personnel, the General Administration of Customs issued the following announcement on August 21:

Individuals from countries (regions) affected by the monkeypox epidemic, who have had contact with monkeypox cases or are experiencing symptoms such as fever, chills, headache, lethargy, back pain, muscle pain, lymph node enlargement, widespread rash on the face and body, shall voluntarily declare to the customs upon entry. Customs health and quarantine personnel will undertake medical measures and conduct sampling tests in accordance with the prescribed procedures.

Aircraft, vessels, containers, and goods from countries (regions) affected by the monkeypox epidemic that are contaminated or potentially contaminated shall undergo health treatment in accordance with the prescribed procedures.
